A two-staged stratified sampling\nmethodology was therefore employed to design the 2017 LFS. The first stage of the sample involved the random selection of\nthe primary sampling units (PSUs) which were the enumeration districts (EDs), followed by the second stage which entailed\nthe systematic selection of the secondary sampling units (SSUs), which were the households from each of the selected PSU.\n\nThe sample frame for the LFS sample was based on the 2012 Population and Housing Census However, given the age of the\nsample frame, a re-listing of the selected enumeration districts was conducted. The proportional allocation method which\ndistributes the PSUs according to the percentage of the population for each census division was used. Comments","act_min":"Interviews were conducted by a group of trained enumerators. Each enumerator was assigned an enumeration district (ED)\nin which to complete. Enumerators were placed into one of six (6) clusters, which were supervised by a team of trained Field\nSupervisors.\n\nThe role of the field supervisor was to coordinator field data collection activities in the field. This role included supervision\nand management of field enumerators, field visits, questionnaires and supplies. The field supervisor was responsible for\nreviewing each questionnaire, checking for missed questions, skip errors, fields incorrectly completed, and checking for\ninconsistencies in the data. The field supervisor was also expected to observe the first two interviews and conduct interviews\nwith difficult interviewers.\n\nAdditionally, field supervisors were responsible for assigning unassigned enumeration districts to enumerators, maintaining\nfield control documents, and submitting completed questionnaires and progress reports to the Statistical Office.\nPeriodic field visits were made by the staff of the Statistical Office to provide support and to ensure that data collection work\nwas progressing smoothly and on schedule.","weight":"Sampling weights were required to ensure actual representativeness of the sample at national level.
